American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (AARA) of 2009 (Pub.L. 111-5) is an economic stimulus package enacted by the 111th United States Congress and signed into law by President Barack Obama on February 17, 2009. The goal of the ARRA is to provide a stimulus to the U.S. economy in the wake of the economic downturn. A key aspect of the ARRA is increasing jobs throughout the United States.
The Milwaukee Area Workforce Investment Board (MAWIB) follows guidelines developed by the federal and state agencies that distribute funds. Those guidelines have not changed under the ARRA. The programs MAWIB provides, as described on this website, reflect the funding and guidelines established by ARRA.
