Our services and programs can help jobseekers gain and retain employment through access to high-demand job opportunities.
MAWIB is the link between jobseekers and employers. We also provide resources to jobseekers who would like to obtain new skills needed to compete in today’s workforce, as well as offer services to assist them with resume writing, interviewing and job search preparation.

MATCH
The Milwaukee Area Workforce Investment Board’s Talent Hive, MATCH (Milwaukee Area Talent Community), allows employers to build long-lasting relationships with our city’s talent. The tool is used for employers to engage candidates when opportunities arise. The art of relationship building through MATCH is to stay relevant and on the employer’s radar. MATCH captures your latest employment information and displays it for interested parties to see so you can always be relevant.
MATCH is an innovative, unique social web technology that retrieves information from a candidate’s social profile to generate a real-time professional resume. The technology provides the jobseeker with a way to connect and engage with everyone on a professional level.

Training and Education
MAWIB offers a variety of training and educational programs to the employed, underemployed and unemployed through funding received through the Workforce Investment Act . These training and educational programs include, but are not limited to:
Customized Training: Trainings designed to meet the special requirements of an employer or a group of employers who are committed to employ the participant upon completion of the training.
Occupational Skills Training: Trainings in a specific occupation that leads to a certificate, diploma or degree.
On-the-Job Training: Training provided by an employer while you receive a paycheck. At the end of the training, employers must provide participants with continuing employment with wages, benefits and working conditions equal to regular employees.
Adult Education and Literacy Training: Individualized, small group and classroom instruction to improve reading, writing, math and/or other basic skills.
Resource Room Access: Clients have access to job leads, Internet employment searches, employer information, and assistance with resume writing and interview preparation.
For someone who is having trouble finding a job because English is not their primary language, MAWIB can provide a referral to organizations in our community that can be of help. Additionally, some staff members are bilingual with fluency in a variety of languages such as Spanish, Hmong and Laotian. Translation services are available and informational materials are available in these languages.
Milwaukee Works
Milwaukee Works! is a transitional jobs project and a collaborative partnership between the Milwaukee Area Workforce Investment Board (MAWIB), Community Relations-Social Development Commission (CR-SDC), the YWCA of Greater Milwaukee, and a host of community and faith-based organizations. The project is funded by the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families and allows low-income adults to be placed in transitional jobs if they meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Applicants must be at least 21 years old and no older than 64 years old.
- Applicants older than 25 must be the biological parent, adoptive parent or primary caregiver of a child under the age of 18.
- Applicants must have an annual household income that is less than 150 percent of the federal poverty guideline for the household size. Proof of household income is required.
- Applicants must have been unemployed for at least the four (4) calendar weeks prior to enrollment into the transitional jobs program.
- Applicants must be ineligible to receive W2 benefits and Unemployment Compensation.
- Applicants must be a resident of Milwaukee County – proof of residency required.
- Applicants must have a valid Wisconsin ID and a Social Security Card.
Documentation and/or proof of all eligibility criteria is required. Eligibility determination does not automatically ensure enrollment into the program nor does it ensure the assignment of a transitional job. Those enrolled must attend orientation sessions, be career assessed, and be assigned a job coach prior to a transitional job assignment.

FSET
The Food Share Employment and Training Program (FSET) is a voluntary program for Food Share program recipients. Recipients can benefit from this program if they are facing chronic unemployment and seeking services to assist them with job development, placement and retention; or seeking occupational skills and pre-vocational training, and/or support services. FSET provides Food Share recipients with the tools they need to become employed.

Disability Program Navigator
The Milwaukee Area Workforce Investment Board (MAWIB) helps people with disabilities navigate through the challenges of seeking employment with its Disability Program Navigator (DPN). The DPN connects jobseekers with disabilities to employment and community resources and programs.
DPN is a system change agent that improves access to job center services through assistive technology and trains new job center staff on serving customers with disabilities. MAWIB’s Disability Program Navigator also works with businesses to help them develop and implement reasonable accommodations and policies and procedures to increase the communication between employers and employees with disabilities.
Mature Workers
MAWIB offers services to jobseekers who are 55 and older through Interfaith Older Adult Programs. At Interfaith, jobseekers can receive assistance in their job search/job placement, learn about occupational skills training opportunities, and have access to other supportive services such as employment-related resource materials and resume critiques.
